A Message from the Class Teacher, Mr Wood
2017-18 Term 3
Dear Parents and Carers,
The following information outlines Class 6's curriculum coverage for term 3:
We will be studying the World War 2 text: The Silver Sword and will be producing various pieces of writing around these. Also, we will be revising the active and passive voice, the possessive apostrophe and will learn about the subjunctive form.
Initially, we will be learning about shape. We will then be revising our place value knowledge before we futher develop our knowledge of the four operations. We will be consolidating our mental methods for simple problems and apply written methods to more challenging problems. We will also be developing our reasoning skills.
Mrs Fidge will be teaching the children science on a Thursday afternoon.
The religion we will be studying this term is Sikhism. We will be learning about how the religion began and the core beliefs of Sikhs.
We will be learning how to produce an animation this term.
Our topic for the term is World War 2. We will be learning about the outbreak war, rationing and the impact on the local area.
We will be receiving a specialist PE lesson from Mr Booker on a Monday afternoon. On a Wednesday afternoon, a PE lesson will be taught to the children by me. Please ensure correct kit is provided on these days.
Mrs Willmott will be teaching the children music on a Wednesday afternoon.
Homework and Spellings:
Homework and spellings are set on a Friday and are due in the following Wednesday. In Year 6, the children are set both English and Maths homework for the week. These is supplied with a 'week-ahead sheet' so you can see if there are any upcoming events for your diaries.
If you have any questions about your child's learning, then please feel free to speak with me or make an appointment at the school office.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mr Wood (Class 6 Teacher) and Ms Sullivan (Class 6 Teaching Assistant)
