Class 6

A Message from the Class Teacher, Mr Wood

 

2018-19 Term 1

Dear Parents and Carers,

The following information outlines Class 6's curriculum coverage for term 2:

English:

We will be studying an adaptation of Shakespeare's play, Macbeth, to form the basis of our English learning. Alongside this, we will be learning about a wide variety of GPS including: the active and passive voice, direct speech and levels of formality. We will also be acting out a version of the play for our class assembly this term!

Maths:

We will be learning about fractions, decimals and percentages. We will also cover geometry this term.

Science:

Mrs Fidge will be teaching the children science on a Friday morning. Our topic for the term is evolution and inheritence.

Religious Education:

We will be learning about the Gospels and Jesus's teachings.

Computing:

We will be learning about coding in Term 2.

Topic:

Our topic for the term continues to be Ancient Egypt. We will be exploring hieroglyphics and Ancient Egyptian gods.

Physical Education:

We will be receiving a specialist PE lesson from Mr Booker on a Monday afternoon. On a Wednesday afternoon, the children will have a gymnastics lesson at the Jubilee Centre in Faversham.

Music:

Mrs Willmott will be teaching the children music on a Thursday afternoon.

Homework and Spellings:

Homework and spellings are set on a Friday and are due in the following Wednesday. In Year 6, the children are set both English and Maths homework for the week. These is supplied with a 'week-ahead sheet' so you can see if there are any upcoming events for your diaries.
