A Message from the Class Teacher, Mr Wood
2018-19 Term 1
Dear Parents and Carers,
The following information outlines Class 6's curriculum coverage for term 2:
We will be studying an adaptation of Shakespeare's play, Macbeth, to form the basis of our English learning. Alongside this, we will be learning about a wide variety of GPS including: the active and passive voice, direct speech and levels of formality. We will also be acting out a version of the play for our class assembly this term!
We will be learning about fractions, decimals and percentages. We will also cover geometry this term.
Mrs Fidge will be teaching the children science on a Friday morning. Our topic for the term is evolution and inheritence.
We will be learning about the Gospels and Jesus's teachings.
We will be learning about coding in Term 2.
Our topic for the term continues to be Ancient Egypt. We will be exploring hieroglyphics and Ancient Egyptian gods.
We will be receiving a specialist PE lesson from Mr Booker on a Monday afternoon. On a Wednesday afternoon, the children will have a gymnastics lesson at the Jubilee Centre in Faversham.
Mrs Willmott will be teaching the children music on a Thursday afternoon.
Homework and Spellings:
Homework and spellings are set on a Friday and are due in the following Wednesday. In Year 6, the children are set both English and Maths homework for the week. These is supplied with a 'week-ahead sheet' so you can see if there are any upcoming events for your diaries.
If you have any questions about your child's learning, then please feel free to speak with me or make an appointment at the school office.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mr Wood (Class 6 Teacher) and Ms Sullivan (Class 6 Teaching Assistant)
