The Village Academy

The Village Academy is a group of town, city and village schools that have joined together to provide the very best education for the children in our care and where we believe that education is very much a matter of the individual.

A Message from the Class Teacher, Mrs Allen

Year 5 Term 3 2018-19

This term, Class 5 are learning about the Victorians. We will be exploring the differences between the lives of rich and poor people in the Victorian era, finding out about the reign of Queen Victoria and learning about the Victorian Empire. In March, we will be taking part in a Victorian Day at Kent Life which will include a visit to a Victorian school room!

To coincide with our Topic learning, we will be reading 'The Peculiars' by Kieran Larwood - a story about a group of characters living in Victorian London. We will be writing in a range of different genres, including letters, diary entries and non-chronological reports, to embed our understanding of grammar, spelling and punctuation.

In Maths, we will be recapping methods for all four operations, as well as extending our knowledge of measures including angles, fractions, decimals and percentages.

The children will be practising skills across a range of sports in PE with Mr Booker, as well as taking part in the Daily Mile! Mrs Wilmott will continue our weekly Music provision.
