PTFA Welly Boot Experience
Thanks to our wonderful PTFA, the infant children were able to plant bulbs in our old welly boots. We can't wait until the spring to see what happens.
Diwali celebrated by Hedgehog Class
Hedgehog Class celebrated Diwali today. We learned that it is a Festival of Light and an extremely important event in the Indian Calendar, where families celebrate the triumph of light in banishing the darkness. The children really enjoyed learning about another culture and why the festival is important to them. We learned the story of Rama and Sita and by far their favourite character in the story was the monster, Ravana, who had ten heads and twenty arms and could morph into different guises. We made diyas with clay, created our own rangoli rice patterns ( used to welcome visitors to the house ) experimented with drawing Mendhi pattens and made lanterns. We welcomed Class 3 to our classroom for the afternoon and they were really careful to step round our welcome rangoli display. We ate some traditional Indian biscuits too. Happy Diwali!
