Choosing the right school for your child is an important, significant and exciting decision. We will support you in this process, recognising that you will be considering your options and making sure you are making the right decision for your child.

We believe that each child can only achieve their full potential if they are happy and secure in their school environment. We offer a caring, child-centred approach, ensuring that our curriculum and learning experiences enhance the children's learning journey preparing them for the wider world and their futures. By building good working relationships with the children and their respective families, we see the potential in every child and nurture its growth so that every child develops to their fullest capacity.

Our small classes, excellent academic record, rural setting and strong Christian ethos may be right for your child.

If you are wondering if Selling School is right for your child, the best way to find out is to come and visit us.

 Admission Arrangements for September 2022

When to apply

If your child was born between 1st September 2017 and 31st August 2018, you should be applying for a place in a Reception class in September 2022 between November 21 and January 2022.

Legally a child reaches compulsory school age in the term following their fifth birthday; County policy is to encourage parents to enrol their children in Reception classes before this deadline.

Application forms are available on the KCC website and our supplementary Church Form is available from the school office. The closing date for applications in reception is usually in the January - with the child starting in the following September.

More information can be found here; www.kent.gov.uk/ola

Visiting the school

We strongly encourage all parents to visit the school so that you can meet the staff and see our school in operation. You are welcome to visit at any time, although we ask that you make an appointment so that the Head Teacher can be available to talk to you and show you around the school. Please ring the school office 01227 752202 and they will be happy to make a mutually convenient appointment.

Once a place has been offered and accepted you and your child will be invited to visit the school on several occasions, both in school time and after school, to help integrate your child and ensure that their first day goes smoothly.

Starting school

Reception children typically start school full time from September. If either parents or the class teacher have any worries about how your child will cope, a different arrangement can be explored and mutually agreed.

Changing Schools to come to Selling CEP School

If you wish to apply for a place for your child who is already at school elsewhere, you need to apply by completing an "In-Year Admission" form. Click here to download the form.  Please return this form to our school office. We would recommend that you also contact the school to find out if we have a spare place.

Transfer at 11

Children leaving Selling to move to Secondary education go to a variety of schools. In their final year at primary school pupils can, if parents wish, undertake the selection test for a Grammar school place (11 plus or Kent Test).

Many of the secondary schools in our area have their own entrance tests or have specific criteria for admission, details of which can be obtained direct from the schools concerned.
