How do I enrol my child at the school?

For information about enrolling your child at Selling Primary School, please visit our website page. Parents are welcome to make an appointment to vie the school by telephoning the School Office on 01227 752 202

What do I do if my child is sick?

Parents should inform the school by telephone on the first morning of an absence by 10am and provide a reason for the pupil's absence. The school will contact the pupil's family and thereafter other emergency contacts if no explanation is given to confirm the reason for the child’s absence. A letter is required on the child’s return to school confirming the reason for their absence.

Children should not return to school until 24 hours after the last bout of sickness.

What happens if we are late for school?

If your child arrives at school between 8.50am and 9.00am, they will be marked as 'L' in the register. Children arriving after 9.00am will receive an unauthorised late code 'U' unless there are exceptional circumstances. To ensure all children are accounted for at all times, parents must bring children arriving after 9.00am to the School Office to sign the Late Book.

To avoid disruption to the class, we politely ask that parents do not enter the classroom between the hours of 8.50am and 3.30pm. A member of staff will accompany your child to the classroom. If you need to speak your child's class teacher, please do so before or after the school day, alternatively please make an appointment.

Will my child get homework?

We strongly believe in the value of parents supporting children’s learning and encourage you to help your child with their homework. The amount and type of homework your child will receive will vary depending on what they are studying and which year group they are in.

However we also value the extra activities that children become involved with outside school, we do not therefore over burden children with unnecessary homework.

Initially homework tends to be reading and spellings moving through times tables and finding things out to more formal tasks as your child progresses through the school. Teachers will send homework timetables home at the beginning of each term letting you know what to expect.
