Beech
Welcome to Beech Class!
I hope you had a wonderful half term and are ready for our final term! This page will provide you with useful information, but please feel free to see me at the end of the day or send an email via the school office if you ever want to ask anything.
TAs and other adults
Our wonderful TAs are Mrs Saunders who will be in Monday to Wednesday, and Mrs Reiff who is in Wednesday to Friday.
We will also be joined by Ms Chubb on Wednesday mornings this term. She will be hearing readers and giving extra support to small groups. Ms Chubb is my mum and a retired teacher, so brings lots of experience!
On Tuesday mornings, Mrs Fidge will be teaching the class while I have my planning time.
PE - Mondays and Fridays
This term, we will be doing Athletics/Sports Day practice and Rounders. Our PE days are still Mondays and Fridays.
Please ensure children wear black bottoms, a black jumper/hoody and a white t-shirt.
Reading
Books and reading records should be coming home every afternoon and coming back into school each morning. Please try to read with your child throughout the week and record it in their reading record (they get a house point every time they read at home!). Children can complete quizzes once they’ve finished their books to check their understanding.
On Fridays, we have a session called 'Chatter-books' where children are welcome to bring in a book from home to share with their friends.
Spellings and Times Tables
Spelling practice will take place daily at school. Children will be given a range of activities to complete throughout the week to improve their spelling and handwriting skills. Please see the Spelling document below which will show which spelling rule we’ll be looking at each week.
Each week the children will be learning a new times table, learning songs and completing activities to help them. They will have time to practise their tables on Times Tables Rock Stars and I would also like to encourage them to login and practise at home if they can. Their login details are in their reading records.
Topics
Our weekly timetable is at the bottom of the page. Please be aware that there may be days where the lessons need to be different due to staffing. I will make sure children who need support with change are told about changes when they arrive in the morning.
