Oak Class Term 5:
Welcome back!
I hope you have had a fantastic Easter. I know some of you were lucky enough to get away for a little while, and some of you perhaps managed to spend some days out in the lovely sunshine that we had here. Either way, I hope you had some special time with your loved ones, and I cannot wait to see the children to hear about their special moments.
Term 5 is a short term, however there is still a lot going on so please make sure to check here for any updates, as well as dojo. I would encourage everyone to use dojo as much as possible as it is a quick and easy way for me to get messages to you all at once.
Dates to remember:
We have 2 bank holidays coming up: May 5th and May 25th.
Year 6 have a school trip to Swallows leisure centre for transition activities on 20th April (first day back). Leavers jumpers and PE is fine for this trip.
All of Oak class have a school trip to Kent life on 21st May to explore their WW2 activities to support our learning from last term.
Bikeability - YEAR 6 ONLY - This will take place on the w/b 18th May. If children have a suitable road worthy bike, they may bring this to school and leave it here for the duration. However, if they do not then a bike and safety equipment can be provided. Please look out for a letter in your child's bag with more details in the coming weeks.
PGL Information meeting for year 6: Friday 15th May 3.40pm. Please just turn up, children are able to attend after school club. We should be no longer that 30 mins.
Friday 22nd May is an INSET DAY and the children will not be in school.
SATS - YEAR 6:
The SATS will take place during the week beginning May 11th with the last test being taken on Thursday 14th. All year 6 children are encouraged to come to our free breakfast club for this week. This is a really special time for the children where they can relax into the morning, and discuss any worries they may have. It means everyone is ready to begin the exams feeling as happy and settled as possible. If you are going to struggle to get your child there, please let the office know and we will endeavor to help. Siblings are allowed to attend the usual breakfast club free of charge.
If you would like to know more about the SATS 2026, please use this link which will take you to a very useful website which will undoubtably answer some of your questions https://primary.lbq.org/hub/ks2-sats-guide-parents. However, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any unanswered questions.
CAT4 - YEAR 5
In the final week, the Year 5 children will sit a cognitive ability test. This will measure them in areas, similar to those of the Kent test, and will allow families to have a more informed idea on whether or not to opt in for the Kent Test assessment next year. There will be more information on this in the coming weeks.
Attached are helpful documents for the term, detailing the topics, spelling and optional homework.
Term 5, lets go!
